Project 'Marble'
Marble pattern made from Lime Plaster
I was approached by a client to create something unique for their new home. They were about to move in, and they asked me to create something special for them. their brief was as follows:
- Durability
- Sustainability
- Longevity
- Easy of Maintenance
- Design Aesthetics
Interior design was already decided upon, so we have worked with what had chosen as the rest of the interior. I had made them a sample board which was very close to what they had imagined, we only made it a tone lighter in the end. They also have a young child. This was their biggest concern in choosing a natural option as they tend to be somewhat softer. However, Lime plaster is extremely strong. Once it is applied, it begins it carbonization process of turning back into limestone. Additionally, it is polished, which condenses plasters structure, compacting lime particles even closer. On top of that, it is polished with natural wax, creating a water repelling seal, making it extra day-to-day use resistent.
I can not stress enough how happy they were for choosing this option. When I went to take these pictures, they kept on expressing their gratitude, and even their regret, for not choosing to do other walls the same. White painted surfaces already had some signs of wear, while these accent walls were as the day I have finished them.
